On a recent stay in Chicago, we were lucky enough to stay right in the heart of the action on Michigan Avenue.
Next time you are on Michigan Avenue, check out the best breakfast in Chicago to start your day seeing the sights off right!
A creative, top notch breakfast spot with 3 convenient locations all over downtown Chicago. Started by entrepreneur Taki Kastanis in 2006, this breakfast hotspot prides itself on fresh, flavorful, creative food.
The restaurant has become so popular with Chicagoans that it purportedly sells 1.9 million eggs each year. 21,900 pancakes are served each week. With these kinds of stats, it is obvious to me that this is a restaurant that is worth checking out.
There were so many great options on the menu that I had a hard time choosing. Hubby ended up ordering the Huevos Rancheros. I opted for the Carnita Egg Sandwich which contained a creative combination of shredded, seasoned pork with pineapple mango salsa with an egg arrayed over the top, lovingly cradled by a pretzel roll.
Looking back over the menu online for writing this post, I am already picking out what I want to try next time I eat at this Chicago breakfast favorite! Red velvet french toast with strawberries and whipped cream? Whole wheat pancakes with granola and blueberries in the batter? Nutella crepes with bananas, strawberries, walnuts, whipped cream and chocolate sauce on top?
Looks like I might need to make a few more trips to Chicago to try it all!
Corner Bakery Cafe
We needed somewhere quick and convenient to score some breakfast on the morning that we were departing. With three locations in downtown Chicago, chances are good that one will be close and convenient for you, too.
The Corner Bakery Cafe is a quick, unpretentious place to pop in. They had an array of excellent pastries, as well as creative, well prepared hot breakfasts. It is a great place for a leisurely sit down breakfast or a grab and go meal on the run.
As a bonus to the great breakfast choices, the restaurant was an excellent value! From hearty breakfast scrambles to breakfast paninis, the menu has a lot of healthy, hearty choices. I had a lovely platter of eggs, bacon and cinnamon swirled brioche baked in vanilla custard (more like a bread pudding than traditional french toast). YUMMY!Pin It
